Cable Jointer

If you壇 like the chance to work outdoors in an important hands-on role, you値l enjoy the Cable Jointer apprenticeship. Working in small teams, you値l look after the underground cables that are an integral part of our electricity network. It痴 a great career choice and your skills will be in-demand, so you値l find plenty of opportunities open to you.

During your apprenticeship you値l learn the highly specialised skills needed for joining power cables. You値l work on both low and high voltage power cables and learn a variety of jointing and terminating techniques for underground electrical distribution and communication cables. 

Your work experience will involve:

  • Repairs and maintenance of cables
  • Installing new underground cable infrastructure
  • Installing and maintaining public lighting systems
  • Jointing and termination of cables in substations
  • Emergency work

Your apprenticeship will also include time at TAFE, where you値l complete a Certificate III to become a qualified Cable Jointer. You値l also gain a truck licence and become skilled in the operation of plant and equipment associated with your role.

EnergyAustralia is a registered training authority and Certificate III in ESI - Cable Jointing (UET30406) is a nationally recognised qualification, accredited by the Vocational Education and Training Accrediation Board (VETAB).
