Electrical Mechanic
If you enjoy the challenge of solving problems and have a mathematical mind, you値l find a place on our Electrical Mechanic (Electrician) apprenticeship.
During your apprenticeship you値l learn how to install, maintain, repair, test and activate electrical equipment. Then you値l put your skills and knowledge to the test in a variety of environments, ranging from houses and factories to multi-storied buildings. You could be working in our substations as a technician or maybe even playing an integral role as part of our emergency services. The opportunities are varied and are there for the taking.
Your work experience will include:
- Building and maintaining substations
- Assisting emergency service officers to restore electrical power
- Installing metering and associated equipment
- Designing and drawing electrical layouts using CAD programs
- Installing and maintaining systems for controlling our electrical distribution network
At TAFE you値l complete a Certificate III to become an Electrotechnology Systems Electrician. You値l also gain new skills such as welding and computer aided drawing, and become a licenced electrician and registered telecoms cabling provider.
